I can’t recall if it was 2001 or 2002.

But it was my first time to attend the bridal fair in Shangri-la Edsa (’twas the golden age of Bridal Fairs for the Big Hotels), we were in one of the satellite rooms outside the Isla Ballroom and my booth was proximate to her space.

We were both struggling startups then and I still recall how pleasant she was to talk to and how her work then showed flashes of brilliance of what was to come.

Years passed and I did pretty well with wedding videos.  And Veluz was always a fixture too with the weddings I did.

It was a slow steady burn for her, not a blink of an eye.  It was a lot of years of hard work and passion, dedication and service.

And then you just realize, not only did she raise the bar,  right now, she IS the bar.

And truthfully, what I love about her and her work is that she didn’t come with the pedigree nor fanfare. She doesn’t have the familiar last name (at least before), the degree from Parsons nor a bevy of celebrities she clothed.

What does she have then?

Talent.  And a great deal of it.
