Erin and Christian. Wedding is Family

So much tears flowed during Erin and Christian’s wedding.

Erin’s Dad was sorely missed.

But her mom, her bro and sis, and of course Erin, knew deep in their heart that he was around, watching over them, smiling and perhaps shedding a tear or two as well.

Lyn and Carlo: I will support your shopping sprees…

When the groom vows  to his bride that he will support her shopping sprees,  he probably …

1.  has a bad hangover from the night before the wedding
2. is making up for something
3. is truly, madly, deeply in love and means it.

With Carlo, I’m betting my  money on number 3.

The rambunctious bridesmaids were a joy to shoot (and watch).  Take a look…

Kyla and Migs: SDE

I met Kyla and Migs last year in New York City, the night after Kanye dissed Taylor onstage at the VMAs.  To this day I still regret not whipping out my 200mm and go all gangsta paparazzi outside Radio City Music Hall.

I digress.

Nine months later I barely recognize Migs in his barong and sans glasses.  Kal El took of his glasses and you bet he was Superman that day waiting for his Lois, Lana or Diana (depending which universe your follow.

It was a treat and amusing to know that Kyla’s mom, Shirley, said that I looked liked an ex-boyfriend.  I could have passed off as a son had the union been consummated. Twisted right?

Weekdays are usually reserved for client meeting and going out with the kids at Power Plant mall to catch a movie or play at he arcade.  Once in a while though we get booked for weddings, quite surprising really.

Weekday weddings happen mostly during December and January.  We shot this one Tuesday in April.

As they say, better to earn than spend ;-)

I was so in the zone for this one that I forgot to ask why they chose the date.  Note to self:  Must ask Rae.

At this wedding, so much was happening all at once all the time.

I suppose that that is the task at hand for me as the person in charge of documenting the event.

To  distill the most relevant and most engaging aspects of the wedding
To string together a seemingly endless array of events to form a cohesive whole
To be able to interpret these events using our skills and our art
…and present them in the most captivating manner possible.

Funny. People who don’t know any better think we’re just the “videoguy”.

EDIT: I was getting a lot of feedback regarding the way I wrote the closing statement. To clarify -
the statement was not intended for anybody in particular, nor was it resultant of this particular wedding.

It was simply a statement of fact perhaps to spark discussion.

My deepest apologies to anybody who was slighted.

As I said to Chitine’s mom in an SMS, their family was the sweetest, kindest I have worked with. To say otherwise would have been farthest from the truth.

The eighties totally rocked! - Sheena Easton, neon clothing, Aquanet and the Sony Walkman!

It was fascinating for me to have  a couple dead-set on their SDE song almost a full year before the wedding.

They wanted it that much.  And after a couple of listens, I caught the last song syndrome.  All together now … Waitiiiing for a star………

Shot this wedding again with Pat Dy (he’s like crazy hot nowadays, OK, Francis his second shooter is too).  Michelle wore a Paul Cabral and the entire wedding was planned, coordinated and executed by JP Montilla.

It’ interesting how the mind works sometimes, I go into the bride’s hotel room, scan the surrounding, check for interesting camera placement, movement, color and texture.

What pops up amidst the din?  Cosmetics!

Find out here …

Congratulations to Sharon and John!
