A Save the Date Video

It’s fun to be able to produce a couple of these in a year.  We actually did decade hopping from the 60s to the 50s then all the way down to the 20s (with a lot of guidance from Madge Lejano).

It was a fun shoot overall (but taxing too).  There was a whole truckload of props and costumes to complete the look.  I think I even stole a hat for myself ;-)

And nothing beats a hot Tapa King dinner after a long drawn-out shoot.

Claire and Jinno

Sometimes you just can’t help but shoot yourself in the foot.  I think a year ago, in a hissy fit, I wrote a piece totally dissing Cebu Pacific for a botched flight.  I mean, it’s one man against a big ugly corporation right?

Then I meet Jinno - who is a pilot in the said airline - first thing he does is apologize for the incident in which he is totally not a part of.  I realize big corporation is comprised of real humans too.  What an embarrassing way to start a client meeting.

Lesson learned - Don’t be a bitch.  =)  (Maybe that’s why I never write about politics.)

Shot Claire and Jinno’s with Mangored, check out the crazy parking lot they found beside the hotel where they took bridal/bridesmaids portraits.

I’ve been crushing on Winona Rider the past couple of weeks.  I just watched Dracula for the nth time and then Marc requested this song from the Reality Bites soundtrack.

“Stop acting like a jealous boyfriend ;-)!”

Got to shoot again with Dino and Madge and Veluz and everything was one big get-together.  Got a bit of help from Dondi Narciso too!

The 2010 and 2011 Calendar: What lies ahead

whatnot 19 Comments »

I was pleasantly surprised when Bridgette (our ever dependable secretary) that we were nearing capacity for next year - 2010 (with 100+ bookings).    It’s the first time it’s ever happened, us having to close the calendar the year before and I’m eternally grateful to our couples who have placed their trust and faith in our craft, art and vision.

And so we open 2011.  Brides books so far in advance that we might as well open it up.  However, we’ll be taking in far less for 2011. I’m gonna work my ass of next year and try to take it easy the year after.

I’m hoping to travel more, without shooting so I can ingest more, live slower and appreciate places better.  I hope to work out me and Oleg Kalyan’s plan for a workshop in Moscow next year.  And then I hope 2011 will be the year I get to Brazil for the wedding filmmakers there.

I’m turning 35 this December and there’s so much to go to and see.

No.  These are not the musings of a person in mid-life crisis.  I’m not that old!

Claire and Christian: La Huerta, Antipolo

It’s always exciting to shoot in a new venue for a wedding.

I was pleasantly surprised with the sight that greeted me after the long drive up to Antipolo.  La Huerta was quaint and  refreshing.  It had so much character that it drove me crazy where to shoot first.

I’m glad the couple chose the venue. Theirs was an intimate wedding. The ceremony was powerful, the Pastor was sometimes funny, but always passionate with his words.

Here’s the same day edit for Claire and Chris’ wedding.

Watch out for some faux Super8 footage of the venue in the coming days.

Cheers!

“All Saints Day” - That’s what we call “Halloween” here in the Philippines.

Remembering the dearly departed.

Hanging out with the kids (on all too rare and precious free weekends).

Consuming all the candy one could possibly can.

The eighties totally rocked! - Sheena Easton, neon clothing, Aquanet and the Sony Walkman!

It was fascinating for me to have  a couple dead-set on their SDE song almost a full year before the wedding.

They wanted it that much.  And after a couple of listens, I caught the last song syndrome.  All together now … Waitiiiing for a star………

Shot this wedding again with Pat Dy (he’s like crazy hot nowadays, OK, Francis his second shooter is too).  Michelle wore a Paul Cabral and the entire wedding was planned, coordinated and executed by JP Montilla.
