Perya (Town Fair) - a Canon 7D Short from Jason Magbanua on Vimeo.
————————
Canon Philippines lent us a pre-production model of the 7d. We got it Tuesday 6pm and had to return it the following Thursday at noon.
We wanted to document something truly Filipino and came up with the idea of shooting a “Perya”. There really is no direct equivalent in English. It’s not as grand as a carnival, not as permanent and posh as an amusement park, there are no pumpkins nor cows in competition like a country fair. It is what it is - a Perya.
Shot in 1920 x 1080 at 24p. Transcoded to XDcam codec. Edited in Premiere Pro CS3.
No color grading was utilized.
No additional lights used.

KILLER!!! I’m so impressed, I’m amazed at the range and how clean it looks, and to see the 24p, looks amazing.
I’m really impressed J.Man, excellent work as always.

the questions that left me after watching were “did they earn enough to make through another perya day? Enough to feed their kids and pay for the overhead?” it’s a fancy thought or anything but this really moved me… made me think.
not a fancy thought, i mean…
the colors are amazing! can’t believe you didn’t use additional lights. great job!

The 7d performed so well with its handlers!!! Di talaga sa camera yan, sa diskarte ng mga gumagamit!!!

Idol kita sa pagkuha ng mga video. Ang galing ng composition mo. Though isang spot lang marami kang nagawang scene. At yung mga angulo ng camera ang galing. Nice one idol. Sana mabigyan mo ako ng tip. I will apprciate in advance. I am inviting you to visit http://dugongkayumanggi.multiply.com and kindly give even little comments for my improvement. Salamat idol.

Hi Jason, Can you recommend which camera to buy for HD video. 5D MkII or 7D?
Very nice shot Jason. Love the photo with Philip Bloom, hehehe. Just curious..during the shoots, what lens or lenses did you use. What would you recommend for the lens for this 7D? Im really interested getting one..already pre ordered when it comes last week of Sept when i go to LA. Thanks.

idol! ang galing galing mo! pwede ba ako salimpusa ser pag nagshoshoot ka? hehe
Good lord. Did you seriously have to use Moby’s music, or could you have done this without copyrighted material? It’s always annoying to watch a video that uses music way better and more famous than the video itself.
It was a choice made during editing.
And six months after the debut. I’m glad somebody still cares.
I’ll send you Moby’s permission letter
Hi sir Jason! I was just wondering where this was shot?:)
super nice! humiwalay ng 2 seconds scalp ko, sa skull ko!! rock
