A Gallery in Black and White
pictures November 17th, 2007I managed to snatch a batch of Ilford black and white film from Jill Lejano last week. Here are some choice pics taken with a canon EOS 1V - the grand daddy and last flagship model of film cameras from Canon.
Reina and Adolph, from November 9’s wedding.
Saint James’ majestic altar.
From Nick and Pheona’s wedding, the monster rig we use - Sony FX1 + 35mm adapter - the rare times it’s on a tripod.
Nick was an honest to goodness Hollywood actor before getting into the corporate world. Look for him in a bit part in Excess Baggage (Guy Ritchie, Alicia Silverstone, Benicio del Toro).
There were 8 priests who officiated the wedding mass.
And three bored boys waiting for their turn.
Thankfully, the rain gave way to petal showers when the mass ended.
The parting shot - Sherry - shooter/editor/mean pasta cook - she won us Silver for the reception category at this year’s WEVA CEAs.
Major thanks to Pat Dy and Dino Lara for allowing me to shoot my rolls.

may bagong pagkakakitaan! sideline career????
Hello Master Jason,
You are such a genius! I am so looking forward to my wedding day. With you around, I am assured of memories that can last this lifetime.
Badette
panalo ang kuha ni inay dito ah
I’m Brian and I’m a student filmmaker I just love watching your videos. I love everything from the colors, to camera work, to timing, it’s inspiring. Although I never plan to do a wedding video in my lifetime hehe, I find watching your videos both entertaining and inspiring. One day when I get married, I know who i’m gonna call. You of course! There’s no doubt about it. Jason Magbanua will be my wedding videographer! YEY!
I’ve got a question though, how do you deal with people who judge your work and all they see is great camera. They think the quality of the work is solely dependent on the camera alone. Like there was this one time I recieved a complement from someone for being a great photographer and the other dude goes like, “syempre ang ganda ng camera nya eh. diba ganun naman yun dahil sa resolution.” I wanted to shamelessly slap him right in the face. lol of course i didn’t do that. i know how to respect people and their opinions. i just need to know how to deal with these kinds of comments.
thanks much
Brian.
Thanks for the praises! I’m stoked that you get to learn stuff from what we do, being a filmmaker yourself. It’s awesome that you are studying for a degree you really love.
Although I get a lot of questions about equipment and stuff, i always disclaim right after that it’s not the tools, it’s the artist.
as my friend karl of fotogra once said of this cellphone video, it’s not the pana, it’s the indian!
cheers!
Badette,
Looking forward too!
