The Cure live in Hongkong
music, pictures, whatnot August 4th, 2007It’s not everyday that one of the bands who wrote half the soundtrack of your life flies in and performs in our teensy part of the world.

This time shopping was the gravy, it was Mr. Smith we flew in for.
With his amazing guitar prowess and vocal range faithful to the albums, you woudn’t think the guy was pushing 50.
The show ran for 2.5 hours, well worth the admission price. Name one song you know from the Cure and they probably played it (yep, even Boys Don’t Cry).
The requisite “we were there” picture.
And as an extra added treat - Imago, Pedicab and Sandwich (who were also in HK for the Cure) scored a couple of gigs during their stay. We were very very fortunate to catch the three bands at the Wanch along Jaffe road.
Pedicab did a version of Boys Don’t Cry.
Sandwich had an astounding set including Alkohol and Magasin (Eraserheads), Laklak (by Teeth), and StateU (by Yano).
Rock and Roll hanggang umaga!

Ka-inggit! Kahit tanders na ni Robert Smith. At shala sa HK ka pa nanood ng Sandwich… magkano beer?
I am a Wedding Videographer in Hong Kong. Your styles are unique and always give us inspiration! I and my wife like it very much. When you come to Hong Kong, just give us a mail and feel free to be our guest. It will be my honor. It will be great to have interaction with people around the world in same business.
naku pinaalala mo pa, beer is 200p ack!
Michael,
WE’d love to meet up when we return. Thanks for the offer and we’ll surely take it up. It’s always fantastic to meet up with fellow videographers worldwide.
HUUGE fan of The Cure too, glad you got to catch them. I watched them live a few times in the past but I haven’t been able to squeeze in a concert in a while.
Did Smith recite F-I-R-E-I-N-C-A-I-R-O? Can he still say the letters as fast the studio recording?
you got me there John, that song, unfortunately wasn’t sung.
jayz, kakainggit kayo ni pang!
did they sing mintcar? friday i’m in love? just like heaven?
you’re pimping in hong kong, partying like a rock star… then the US embassy didn’t give you a visa? something’s wrong with that picture….
