Of Preschool and Zoolander
whatnot November 13th, 2006Jakob is in kindergarten. He just turned 5 last November 11.
Before the sembreak, we received an evaluation of our son’s performance in school. I am utterly amazed by a preschool teacher’s patience, understanding and optimism.
Here are some excerpts of the said evaluation and a crazy father’s annotation (italics mine).
Jakob is a very energetic and active boy. His gross motor skills are well developed (just a few shy steps away from ADHD). He shows balance of in use of large muscles. He can lift up a wooden chair with one hand (which does wonders to show who’s boss over the other kids.) He socializes with everyone. He is a jolly greeter. (win ‘em with your killer smile son).
He is a smart learner but he has a short attention span. He shows signs of an analytical and critical mind but he finds it hard to maintain focus on activity (not when Ben Ten and the rest of Cartoon Network beckons).
He has innate brilliance (ehem!).
God Bless Kindergarten Teachers!
Here’s Jakob in Blue Steel mode.

I’m sure you’ll agree with me when I say that as parents, we never ever get tired.
We just ARE tired.
Cheers.

Andrew
Ahh, TIRED. Your words ring true, albeit, TRUER for our wives.
John,
But I was a gentler, meeker kid. NOT!

in behalf of preschool teachers. . . we only get to be your kids’ teachers for 3 - 3.5 hours a day, you get to be parents 24/7 so, kudos to you and your kind!
