Once in a while, you meet a couple you just totally gel with. Mel and Merrick is one of them. We had the leeway to pick a song and just went crazy with the colors and cutting.

Here’s what was on ther checklist going into the pre-production meeting.

1. no lovey-dovey walk in the park (so i was thinking “album cover” when we did the shoot)
2. no mushy soundtrack (jim brickman out, smashing pumpkins and snow patrol in)
3. no stiff interviews (it was more “conversation”)
4. none of the usual stuff (needed to wrack my brain extra hard)

But our pieces remain special. Adrenaline fueled and driven by a genuine desire to astound the guests and create a perfect record of the wedding day.

I’m kinda getting the hang of shuttling from place to place to shoot weddings.

It’s picture perfect here in Shangri-la Mactan.

The Onsite Video we made was a prelude to the grand entrance of the couple. We made sure to put the fireworks display in the MTV (just to show off, mwahahaha!).

It was a wedding and party extraordinaire when Cara Villavicencio (of Triple V fame) gets hitched to Ken Espinosa.

Flying all the way from across the pond like true Pinoys, the couple decided to exchange their “i dos” not in London (where they reside), not in Egypt (Simon is half-Egyptian) but right here in Manila, the place closest to their hearts.

Finding myself in a cozy cafe in Agusan del Norte named Margie’s. (with free wi-fi to boot). Preparing for a wedding tomorrow at 8 in the morning. Lovely place, warm people. Stick around for the Onsite video we’re doing for tomorrow.

This is where the reception took place. Contrary to expectations, melons were not served.

The city had a penchance for brightly colored public transport. You’d have to be blind as a bat to be hit by one of these.

Interestingly, when I was doing the Onsite Video. I was not only racing to beat the reception program clock. Oh no, the stakes were higher and I was also racing for my plane ride back to Manila. Thankfully, the video was succesfully executed and shown with just minutes to spare before I got to the airport for final boarding.
