It’’s sacrilege to speak of photography first before videomaking in this blog but you can hardly call me devout.

I picked up a DSLR a month back and have been seriously playing with it since. There are definite parallels with videography like composition and framing but photography was an entirely novel experience. Here’s what I surmised so far:

* Unlike video where you can roll tape forever, you have a mere split second to capture your subject.
* Photographs leave much to the imagination, the context in which the picture was taken will always be a mystery to those who look.
* A photographer always hits and misses, a good one just has a better batting average.

I filled out 200 megs of a CF last Black Friday, I ended up choosing a mere ten images.

But for all it’s difficulty I’d still like to see a photog weave something out of moving images, music, text and spoken word like videographers do.
